What we do
We cut hedges. We reduce overgrown ones. We remove the ones that have to go. And we plant new ones — with the right species for Dover's chalk downland and Dour valley loams, not whatever the nursery has in stock.
That's it. We don't do tree surgery, lawn care, fencing, or the rest of the garden-services bundle. Hedges are a craft worth being good at; we keep our focus narrow so we are.
Why local matters here
Most of central Dover falls inside a DDC conservation area. The White Cliffs fringe villages have legally-protected dormice in the hedge bases. The downland chalk is thin and droughty in summer; the Dour valley loam is deep and supports completely different species. A contractor from outside the area won't know any of that without being told.
We work this patch every week. The conservation-area paperwork is included. The dormouse protocol is built into how we schedule. The species recommendations match what actually thrives here.
How we work
- Photos and postcode for an initial quote. We can give a fixed price for most routine cuts without coming out. Reductions and removals usually need a site visit (free, no obligation).
- Fixed-price quotes. No day-rate creep. If the job runs longer than we expected, that is our problem, not yours.
- Conservation-area paperwork handled. If your address needs a section-211 notice, we file it. Cost included in the quote.
- All arisings cleared. We carry an Environment Agency upper-tier waste-carrier registration. Clippings go to the DDC Whitfield HWRC or get chipped, never burned on site.
- Bank transfer or cash. Invoice or receipt either way.
What you won't get
- A salesman trying to upsell you a "garden makeover."
- A quote that doubles when we arrive.
- A botched cut to compensate for not telling you the hedge actually needs a reduction.
- Lectures about the cosmic importance of compost.
